About me

Hennie Botha

I’ve always loved photography. As a child I was hardy ever in the photo, because I was always on the other side of the camera taking the photo. This never bothered me in the least, and although my first attempts were likely three almost identical fuzzy photos of a monkey taken through the zoo fence, I have persisted.

I am now based in Muizenberg in the Western Cape and I specialise in general portrait photography using natural light and natural locations, in-doors or outdoors.

Natural light portrait photography

The secret to good photography is understanding light and making the best use of available light. Warm natural light is particularly flattering in photography, so I prefer working outdoors to help create natural, warm-tone images. Indoor shoots near windows or doorways can also appear beautifully moody and mysterious.

Shoots that make use of naturally available light are generally also less complicated, more spontaneous and reflect more mood and emotion. This because there is no need for throngs of people running around setting up lighting, nor waiting for long periods of time while a studio is set up.

So if you enjoy the look and feel of natural light photography – indoors or out – please get in touch with me..

Areas I work in

I am based in the Cape Town area, so I am available for photography assignments throughout the Western Cape.
