Dané has the colours of autumn hidden in her eyes. She’s energetic, fun-loving and effervescent in life; in front of the camera she’s shy and demure, as if the lens exposes a delicate vulnerability usually masked by her gregarious personality.
We chose shooting locations in the nearby Winelands, where the vine leaves are tuning gold and burgundy with the changing season; and the naked wheatfields are waiting to be planted ahead of the first winter rains.
The light was warm and soft, and Dané swiftly changed her look with a simple selection of scarves that complemented the various backdrops. The result is photographs that are fresh and saturated with colour, and which carefully highlight her natural, unfettered beauty as well as the magnificent surroundings of the Cape Winelands.
